Ode to Mary Oliver
I saw bobcat this morning
Haunches swaying, snub-tail twitching from one side to the other
A spotted flash darting across the road
Into the wild oats and coyote brush, bounding out past toyon
Up a thick trail into the trees
It was hard not to follow-
Such alive wildness on four padded paws !
My desire to leap and scamper
Untie my hair and run
Disappear into those trees chasing inspiration without bounds
Some days I do!
Others, I sit and watch
A happy witness to it all
