I have always been mesmerized by how land informs literature. Not just as a backdrop, but as an entire culture, an ocean of beliefs and ways in which a group of people live. The language of the landscape seems to inform how people move, how they speak, how they think, and interact. It is the invisible thread that holds our stories, our lives, together.

So literature, once only a field of study, has revealed to me the magic inherently possible in any landscape. That which lives in the invisible realm of air is creating matter, words, relationship, medicine. The magic realism of brilliant South American writers like Garcia Marquez is unfolding before my very eyes.

After university, I worked with medicinal plants among the Cachiquel Indians in Western Guatemala. it was an apprenticeship in plant medicine, and more importantly, a remembering with these people that the medicine they needed, for fevers, parasites, insomnia, indigestion, was outside their very own doors, growing in their very own gardens. Already they were forgetting.

The plant medicine was part of a CO-OP, founded by Luz Marina Delgado in the 1970’s in support of indigenous people and indigenous ways. Her vision was to construct the future through re-claiming the past, and giving value and importance to the ways of women, and the work that came through their hearts and into their hands.

22 years of study and practice in the fields of Craniosacral therapy, Polarity Therapy and Qigong have only begun to satiate my hunger for understanding the relationship between earth systems and the human body, and how we might begin to reclaim health when we lose it, on any level.

The energy of the Earth in each ecosystem is a mirror for the energy in the “ecosystems” of the human body. The elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether (or in the Chinese System, Metal) all manifest and move in and out of balance in human health and illness.

The study of these energies, and how to see and touch them, has been my true love for as long as I can remember.

Health, as it moves from Spirit (or one’s mind, in the big sense of the word), down into the emotional field, and then into the physical body, is a fluid system… SO full, vibrant health is always achievable....

Health, as it moves from Spirit (or one’s mind, in the big sense of the word), down into the emotional field, and then into the physical body, is a fluid system. So full vibrant health is ALWAYS ACHIEVABLE, though the journey may be long and arduous.

Fellow dreamer, earth walker and lover of all things pure, no matter where you are on your journey, Wellness, the bliss of being in at ease in your body, is ALWAYS possible.

Soften your gaze,

Feel your heart,

Notice your feet on the ground

. Allow these shoes to bring you into relationship to the very ground you walk on, and watch the magic of your life, in relationship to where you are, emerge. Here we go.

Walking again, connected to the earth, we remember who we are….
